The Pala Latin Mass community is overjoyed to share in celebrating their children’s First Holy Communion! Following a course of instruction by the community’s chaplain Fr. Peter Adrian Miller, O.Praem., the young candidates were tested on their knowledge and made their first confessions the last Sunday in April.
First Communion took place on May 6 at St. Anne’s, a stunningly beautiful FSSP church located in the heart of San Diego’s historic Barrio Logan. It was a solemn high mass with Fr. Peter as the main celebrant. Following the Mass, TLM-Friends sponsored a little reception at St. Anne’s parish hall!

As one member of this thriving TLM community put it, “This first group of first communicants is a ray of hope to many, and a promise of a bright future. Thank you for the sacrifices you make to raise your children up in the beautiful traditions of our Faith.”
But the Mary Month of May was just gearing up. That next Sunday saw the May Crowing at the St. Juan Diego Center, home of the North County TLM community. After the Crowning, Fr. Peter enrolled the first communicants in the Brown Scapular Confraternity. Learn more about the North County TLM Community here.

It’s important to remember that the Traditional Latin Mass—despite all the challenges thrown in our path—is still thriving and growing, not only here in San Diego County, but throughout the entire Catholic world.
And…speaking of St. Anne’s…Luke Heintschel is headmaster of St. Joseph Academy in San Marcos CA wrote an excellent article which you can read in its entirety here. The article is titled “I’m a Catholic who prefers Latin Mass. For my family, it’s about handing on tradition.” That title alone tells you that it’s an article worth reading!
We’ll hit some of the article’s highlights in the next newsletter (or maybe the second next newsletter), but don’t wait for our hokey little newsletter to read it. It’s great stuff!
