Who We Are
What We’re Trying To Do
Friends of the TLM are a group of Lay persons. We’re not associated with any specific parish or faith community. We’re just people who love the Traditional Mass according to the 1962 Missal. We love the prayers, the rubrics, the reverence. We view the TLM as a priceless spiritual treasure worth preserving and we want to assist in that preservation wherever and whenever we can. We’re not a fancy outfit with vast resources by any stretch! But we will use what assets, talents, and abilities we have to help our brothers and sisters who treasure the Traditional Latin Mass as we do.
We also want to do our part to educate our fellow Catholics about this most amazing treasure. Even if You’ve never experienced it first-hand, the TLM (also known as the Tridentine Mass) is part of your spiritual heritage. As Catholics, it’s our history. It’s our inheritance. Our legacy. It’s ours. And yours. Come and visit one of our Masses! Our communities may be small and hard to find, but we’re vibrant! We’re welcoming! And we’re growing. Our pews (or folding chairs, in many cases) are full of young people and young families. Come and see why our past is also our future! Come and visit a Traditional Latin Mass.
WHEN WAS TLM FRIENDS FOUNDED?
TLM Friends was born in 2021 following Pope Francis’ Motu Proprio “Traditionis Custodes” and the aftermath of draconian measures against faithful priests and laity where the mass itself was severely restricted, transferred and, in some cases, eliminated. The lay men and women of TLM Friends had foreseen that an organization was needed to encourage resistance to its elimination of the mass, while also supporting the bishops, priests, seminaries, abbeys, missions, oratories and diocesan parishes where the mass is said.
